As you all know, Hope the Bear is our mascot. What you may not know is that every child who attends a retreat receives their own Hope the Bear teddy. The 2nd grade students at Nova Southeastern University School are stepping up to make this possible.

From May 16-20 the 2nd grade students will raise funds for Deliver the Dream by selling teddy-grams (gummy bear bags) during lunch for $1 in the name of Hope the Bear. In addition, any child who donates $10 will be able to fill out a “birth certificate” for a Hope the Bear teddy and give it a name. The certificates and teddy bears will be given to children on our upcoming 2016 retreats.

How amazing are these kids and the teachers and administrators that instill the value of giving back in our youth?? We can’t wait to see the kids embrace this project!

Thank you to Dawn De Marco from Sparkle of Life & the Dream Girls Auxiliary Group for hosting a lovely charity luncheon last month.

We raised more than $500!

No, not the movie… it’s the 5-week CrossFit Competition going on every Friday from February 26 – March 25! The event, hosted by Club One Athletics, features teams of CrossFitters competing for points for participation, such as sharing the event on social media, best team costume, team spirit and – of course – some athletic performances, too.

Each week features a different benefiting charity and Deliver the Dream was the recipient on Friday, March 11. We were blown away by the athleticism of the teams and the generosity of everyone involved, including the gym’s owner, Chase Brendle. At the end of the night, we were awarded a HUGE check for $1,000!! We are beyond grateful to have been a part of this competition… and it inspired Hope to do a little workout of her own. Thanks Club One Athletics!!


The Volunteer of the Month for March is our volunteer, Elena Ripley! Elena has been on four retreats, the most recent retreat being our weekend for families who have a child with autism. Elena always steps up to help us! You can find her chasing around energetic children with a huge smile on her face. Elena is full of love and laughter and is always around when she is needed. Thank you for making retreats so special and fun, Elena!

The Woodward family from Jacksonville (From the left- Meaghan, Tom, Becky, Ian, Jacob, and Abby) attended the recent retreat for families who have a child with an autism spectrum disorder. “Our family had so much fun! You guys do an amazing job!”

 

Deliver the Dream is providing The Color Run Fort Lauderdale with some amazing volunteers for their race on April 23rd at Huizenga Park! Be the first face color runners see on race morning, hand out some water to keep the runners hydrated, or even toss some color their way as they run!

Shifts include a 5:30 AM shift (Check in), 6:00 AM shift (Race), and a 9:30am shift (Clean Up). Volunteers also get an exclusive The Color Run Volunteer t-shirt.
